Girl in the Park

She walks toward me with quick steps
seemingly self-assured.
I look at her, (gaze, stare actually),
her self, her being, her presence,
her sexuality and sheer femaleness
which suddenly shapes me, names me
when I allow it, permit a response
from the shadows, from the path
to the side, (the outside),
the other one, not me.

The center knows. Inside
where stars dwell.
Each one calling my name
relentlessly to listen,
to come home, to reclaim
my glory, my true being
my real name,

to give back to her what is hers
not mine. Here person, her self,
her life I tried to steal
a piece of.

What Are You?

A myriad bubbles were floating on the surface of a stream.
‘What are you?’ I cried to them as they drifted by.
‘I am a bubble, of course’ nearly a myriad bubbles answered,
and there was surprise and indignation in their voices as they passed.

But, here and there, a lonely bubble answered,
‘We are this stream’,
and there was neither surprise nor indignation in their voices,
but just a quiet certitude.

Searchers

There seem to two kinds of searchers:
those who seek to make their ego something other than it is,
i.e. holy, happy, unselfish (as though you could make a fish unfish),
and those who understand that all such attempts are just gesticulation and play-acting,
that there is only one thing that can be done,
which is to disidentify themselves with the ego,
by realizing its unreality,
and by becoming aware of their eternal identity with pure being.

The Street

A little darker look than previous. It reminds me of some neighborhoods I hung out in many years ago. I enjoyed working with the pallete knives on this one.

Dao

Dao

Just a little Zen-like scene that references 'The Dao' (or Tao). the text alludes to that which is changed simply by the act of 'naming' it. The name is only a pointer, it it not the thing itself. This is sometimes called the subject-object duality.

Brokeback Mountain

Finished this last weekend. A friend said it looked like a scene he saw in the movie.

Our Earth

It is our earth, not yours or mine or his.

We are meant to live on it, helping each other,

not destroying each other.

Zen Sculpture

This little piece was from a photo I took last Summer at Dana Point, California. It has a nice zen like look. I basically copied the picture but painted it in oil.
